So why I should join...?
Well, Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations establish a Venturing Crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.
Venturing Crews can participate in a variety of vocational skills, hobby interests, or may choose to specialize in one specific activity.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Venturing work?
Venturing is for young men and women, ages 14-20. Each Venturer is a member of a Crew. Crews go on camping trips, high adventure treks, play games, do service projects and learn new skills. Crews can specialize in particular types of activities or organize themselves more broadly around a sponsoring organization.
How much does it cost?
The annual membership fee for Venturing, BSA is $60. Our Crew asks for an additional $35 in membership fees to help fund our Crew to make things run butter smooth! Our outings can cost anywhere from $10 to $2,000. If costs are a challenge for you, no worries! The Atlanta Area Council, from the generosity from local families and business, can help you with membership fees. We also will have fundraisers to help bring down the cost of our more adventurous adventures!
I don't have time.
Excusesss (and not a question :P)! Lots of youth take part in Venturing along with a variety of other activities like varsity sports, marching band, academic interests, and more. These programs all work together with Venturing to provide your child with a balance of adult role models and experiences!
What do we do?
Venturing Crew 2992 is the Atlanta Area Council's international co-ed venturing crew, specializing in ...well... international scouting! The Atlanta Area Council has been around the world including:
Blair Atholl Scout Jamborette, Scotland, UK
World Scout Jamboree, WV, USA
Kandersteg International Scout Center, Switzerland
Germany, Backpacking the Alps and Rhine River
While we do have an intense passion and love for international scouting, when we're not exploring the world, we STILL LOVE TO HAVE FUN!! So instead of being at home, we like to keep ourselves entertained with other adventures such as:
Weekend campouts and backpacking trips
Day hikes at a local trail
Backyard gatherings and nearby recreational activities
